FAQ
How can a restaurant terrace be furnished in a sunny desert climate? In a desert climate, three factors must be considered together: intense solar exposure, wide temperature variations, and sand-laden winds. Woven surfaces work well they do not retain heat like solid surfaces and allow air and dust to pass through rather than trapping them. In the outdoor dining area of Khufu's Restaurant in Giza, the choice fell on Panarea armchairs and lounge armchairs, woven in polypropylene cord with a dry-feel polyurethane foam cushion. The fourth criterion is colour: in a setting with a monumental backdrop, the furniture palette must blend into its surroundings.
How does woven seating withstand prolonged exposure to UV rays?

Pedrali’s woven outdoor armchairs are specifically designed for outdoor environments. The polypropylene rope weave and the fabric upholstery of the cushion ensure excellent resistance to weather conditions, while providing ease of maintenance and long-lasting durability.

How can aesthetic continuity be maintained between a restaurant's outdoor dining area and its indoor dining room?

Indoor and outdoor spaces can engage in a natural dialogue through furnishings, materials and colour palettes that foster visual continuity and design harmony. At Khufu’s, the terrace features the hand-woven element of Panarea collection, while the indoor dining area is furnished with the ash plywood of Nemea chairs and Malmö armchairs. Different materials, yet both warm and natural in appearance, both aligned with the neutral palette of the sandstone architecture.

Where is Khufu's Restaurant and who designed it?

Khufu’s is located in Giza, Egypt, nestled in the desert and overlooking the pyramids of Giza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The architectural project was designed by the Egyptian architect Hisham Ghorab from the studio Style Design, while the menu, dedicated exclusively to Egyptian cuisine, was created by chef Mostafa Seif.

Do Pedrali's woven armchairs maintain their comfort and colourfastness outdoors? Pedrali’s woven outdoor armchairs are specifically designed for outdoor environments. The polypropylene rope weave and the fabric upholstery of the cushion ensure excellent resistance to weather conditions, while providing ease of maintenance and long-lasting durability.

The cushion of Panarea, padded in dry-feel polyurethane foam, offers a high level of comfort and ensures excellent outdoor performance, promoting rapid water drainage and enhancing users’ well-being throughout the day. The upholstery is covered in fabric made from the same thread used for the woven element, creating a refined continuity of material and colour.

What awards has Khufu's Restaurant received?
